Go to CAPPS Recruit to Sign In https://capps.taleo.net/careersection/ex/jobsearch.ftl?lang=en GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Perform highly complex (senior-level) systems administration work involving maintaining the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of systems. Installs and upgrades computer components and system software. Work directly with computer hardware and software, including installation, maintenance, and data recovery. Work is performed under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Perform troubleshooting support of over 40 different systems hardware, software and networking issues to include investigative and intelligence databases and systems. 2. Respond to incident and problem calls, and processes service requests and tasks. 3. Install, configures, maintains, and administers servers, operating systems, and applications within a Windows Active Directory environment. 4. Support operational, technical and system requirements for the location, installation, operation, and maintenance of servers. 5. Coordinate, plan, and schedule the installation of or training for new or revised systems, including investigative and intelligence databases and systems, and define business process requirements. 6. Define and manage the roles and access privileges of individual network entities users and devices within a variety of applications to prevent unauthorized access. 7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Information Technology, Cyber Security, and Innovation and Data Office, to gather requirements, provide technical insights, and contribute to the overall design and development process. 8. Assist with analysis and evaluation of existing information technology and systems processes associated with system software and hardware technology planning, development, implementation, security, and interfaces. 9. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies. 10. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS: Education Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent is required. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Computer science, management information systems, or a related field is preferred. Experience Minimum of six (6) years experience performing systems administration or technical support for criminal intelligence information systems and database with at least one (1) year at the Texas Department of Public Safety. Substitution Note: One (1) year of education may be substituted for One ( ) year of verifiable experience. Licensure and/or Certification Must possess a valid driver license from state of residence. Regulatory knowledge Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Technology Proficiency with Microsoft Office and appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems (e.g. CAPPS, SharePoint, CJIS, Teams) and be able to learn new software/systems. Ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues; to use network management, administration, and other system administration tools. Interpersonal Skills Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy, and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers. Analytical Reasoning/Attention to Detail Must demonstrate an ability to examine data/information, discern variations/similarities, and be able identify trends, relationships, and causal factors, as well as grasp issues, draw accurate conclusions, and solve problems. Confidentiality and Protected Information Must demonstrate an ability to responsibly handle sensitive and confidential information and situations and adhere to applicable laws/statutes/policies related to access, maintenance, and dissemination of information. Safety Must be able to work in safe manner at all times, avoiding shortcuts that have potential adverse results/risks, and must be able to comply with safety standards and best practices. Schedule and/or Remote/Telecommuting work and/or Travel Availability for after-hours, weekends, holidays, overnight and emergencies is (or may be) required. Telecommuting up to five (5) days per week. Travel statewide. A DPS employee who is selected for a position in their current salary group with a new state title may receive an increase of no more than 3.4% over their current salary regardless
