Duke Energy Lead Cybersecurity Systems Engineer Analyst in Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Summary:

The Analyst is responsible for providing OT expertise in cybersecurity control implementation across all of Duke Energy's businesses (Natural Gas, Electric Generation, Transmission, and Distribution.) The Analyst will work with peers across the Business Units and within the Cybersecurity and Enterprise Technology groups to establish and maintain a robust cybersecurity program for Operational Technology (OT) assets that is focused on risk reduction and a strong cybersecurity posture.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and facilitate conversations between BUs, EPs and Cyber on leading practices to further operationalize standards (e.g., assets, minimum security baseline, network protection.)

  • Work with Enterprise OT Director to develop enterprise OT security strategy, vision and objectives.

  • Work with Cyber Analyst(s) to define, document, and report out enterprise-wide cyber performance and risk metrics (e.g., KPIs, KRIs.) Work with Enterprise OT Director to periodically reassess OT risk tolerance.

  • Direct team to perform OT cyber assessments (e.g., verification, risk.) Work with respective groups to remediate deficiencies, vulnerabilities and findings from OT cyber assessments, when necessary.

  • Advise Business Units on standing up cyber programs and ongoing operations (procedures and governance support.) Support development and maintenance of overarching cyber policies, standards and control requirements. Support development and maintenance of OT security training plan, modules, schedule, and training records.

  • Maintain OT governance committees & communication / escalation paths. Facilitate communication around funding for OT cyber/compliance program. Support BUs with maintenance of asset inventories, classification, and prioritization of OT devices.

Required/Basic Qualifications:

  • High School/GED degree

  • Minimum 12 years Required Related Work Experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • AS in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Other related Plus 4 years

  • BS in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Other related Plus 2 years

  • Licenses: CISA , GIAC , GCIH , CISSP , GICSP , CISM

  • Motivated self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to provide briefings to various levels of staff / management.

  • Ability to work in high pressure situations and within a team environment.

  • Experience with writing and editing technical documentation and operational procedures.

  • Demonstrated effective problem solving & analytical skills

  • Direct background or exposure to cyber security operations

  • Knowledge of network monitoring, analysis, troubleshooting, and configuration control technologies

  • General networking understanding and/or experience to include Understanding of TCP/IP communications & knowledge of how common protocols and applications work at the network level, including DNS, HTTP, and SMB

  • Demonstrated understanding of the life cycle of OT assets

  • Innovative – ability to recognize and seek improvement and efficiency opportunities

  • Demonstrated commitment to training, self-study and maintain proficiency in the technical cyber security domain.

  • Demonstrated organization and planning skills that include project coordination and the ability to manage multiple deadlines

  • Demonstrated competency in developing effective solutions to business problems

  • Demonstrated capability to work with little management oversight and must have strong personal initiative.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both onsite and remote locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to the assigned Duke Energy Facility.
