Position summary:

The Security Analyst is a key member of the IT Security team, focusing on the technologies, processes, and procedures that help the Company meet regulatory obligations and general business security needs. This person will have primary responsibility for physical security installations at company locations. This person will identify physical security needs and vulnerabilities, work with appropriate Black Hills Corporate groups and contractors to implement measures to fulfill those needs and mitigate vulnerabilities.

Pay Range:This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.

Level I:$27.38 - $41.08 per hour

Level II:$69,350 - $104,000 annually

Reporting Relationship:Corporate and IT Security Manager

Location:Cheyenne, Wyoming

Essential Functions:

• Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of security plans, products, and control techniques.

• Implement and test physical security controls including access card readers, video cameras and DVRs.

• Work within various security management software products to configure and manage access to systems and facilities.

• Work with assigned cyber security controls such as firewalls, intrusion detection software, vulnerability management and various endpoint protection products, etc.

• Track their individual project activities and report status to appropriate management.

• Assist with the development of communications and actively promote related campaigns for information security awareness among all staff.

• Receive work assignments, clarify work details and expectations as necessary, and complete work in a complete, accurate and timely manner.

• Maintain an awareness of existing and proposed security standard setting groups, State and Federal legislation and regulations pertaining to information security.

• Help ensure Company meets all applicable regulations, including NERC-CIP, SOX, etc.

• Participate in system audits, user audits and network audits.

• Participate in rotating on-call with the rest of the Security Team.

• Maintain strong working relationships with all levels of personnel in the IT department and business areas supported.

• Work effectively with security integrators, vendors, software manufacturers and application users to program, maintain and improve support for all security systems.

What You'll Need:

Level I:

• Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Security or job related field or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.

• Minimum of 2 years of work and/or school experience, with strong exposure to IT workstation, system or network support required.

Level II:

• Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Security or job related field or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.

• Minimum of 3 years of direct Physical Security installation and configuration experience or equivalent.

• Seasoned understanding of network architecture, firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, web filtering, audit and log management, physical security control systems, real-time systems, Video Management Systems and components, and common operating systems.

• Strong understanding of physical security architecture and protection strategies. Be able to drive engineering and design best practices as a part of Tier II support for systems design and implementation projects.

• Strong individual organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical people.

• Able to work with minimal supervision, handle multiple projects simultaneously, assist with coordinating a variety of work functions and adapt to critical timelines.

What Is Desired Or Can Be Taught:

• Physical Security installation and configuration experience

• Knowledge and/or experience with network systems, vulnerability assessment and management products, Windows operating systems, UNIX/Linux operating systems, networks (routing, switching, design, etc.), scripting/programming (shell, Perl, C, etc.)

• Basic understanding of network architecture, firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, web filtering, audit and log management, physical security control systems, real-time systems and common operating systems.

• Basic knowledge of physical security architecture.

• Basic knowledge of current regulatory environment, including NERC-CIP and SOX desired.

• Knowledge and/or experience with network systems, vulnerability assessment and management products, Windows operating systems, UNIX/Linux operating systems, networks (routing, switching, design, etc.), scripting/programming (shell, Perl, C, etc.) preferred

• Strong individual organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical people.

• Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information with discretion.

• Able to work with minimal supervision, handle multiple projects simultaneously, assist with coordinating a variety of work functions and adapt to critical timelines.

• Ability to troubleshoot system and maintenance problems.
