Platform Software Engineer

Design and develop the core software platform or board support package for Ford’s driveline control modules and transmission control modules. Scope of software design includes the core platform software components of cyber security software, Over-The-Air flash, CAN multiplex, and Low-Level Driver, High Level Drivers. Vehicle applications include internal combustion engine vehicles (ICE), Modular Hybrid Transmission (MHT), and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV).

What you'll do...

  • Generate the Basic Software Communication Stack using Vector Davinci Configurator

  • Design and develop C-language application software for base software platform features including:

  • CAN interface to the Basic Software Communication Stack

  • High Level Driver (HLD) interface between a) the supplier provided Low Level Drivers (LLD), b) the Communication Stack, and c) the application (control) software.

  • Integrate and configure software for corporate over-the-air (OTA) flash, CAN Message Authentication (CMA), and COM stack.

  • Integrate final Transmission Controls and Driveline Controls application software including LLD, HLD, Comm Stack and the control system software.

  • Perform on-board validation testing (HIL) of application software.

  • Perform controller board testing using Lauterbach IDE debug systems.

  • Utilize Vector CANAlyzer to validate and debug CAN related implementations.

  • Use software planning tools to develop and deliver feature and application software release plans

  • Use software build tools and configuration management systems.

You'll have...

  • B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer or Software Engineering or related degree; or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education.

  • 2+ years of experience in real-time embedded software design, and associated low level software drivers using C-programming language. A combination of education and equivalent experience would apply.

  • 2+ years of experience with Controller Area Network (CAN) messaging design and related tools - Vector CANAlyzer, and Vector Davinci Configurator

  • 2+ years of experience with Cybersecurity methods, including message authentication.

  • 2+ years of experience with primary and secondary boot loaders, including secure boot considerations.

  • 1+ years of experience with version management tools such as Clearcase or Github.

Even better, you may have..

  • M.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer or Software Engineering or related degree; or foreign equivalency degree

  • 2+ years of experience with automotive control systems software and hardware development

  • 2+ years of experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing methodologies

  • 4+ years of experience with Cybersecurity methods, including message authentication.

  • 4+ years of experience with primary and secondary boot loaders, including secure boot considerations.

  • 1+ years of experience with MATLAB or similar scripting languages

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8 .
