Job Description:

The Sr Specialist, Systems Engineer position is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communications platforms.

Essential Functions:

  • Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains

  • Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements

  • Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning

  • Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements

  • Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements

  • Perform requirement traceability

  • Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness

  • Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements

  • Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs

  • Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals

  • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years of related experience

  • OR Master’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of related experience

  • OR in lieu of a degree a minimum of 10 years of related experience

  • Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains

  • Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning

  • Be able to write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements

  • Understand requirement traceability

  • Be able to prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals

  • Ability to pass FAA Class III Flight Physical

  • Active Secret DoD Security Clearance or higher

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware

  • Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support

  • Security+ Professional Certification

  • RF distribution systems including RF down-converting, up-converting, transceivers, non-blocking switching, and electrically phase matched distribution architectures

  • Agile experience

  • Troubleshooting and multi-level testing for RF applications

  • Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose

  • Knowledge of the systems engineering trade study process

  • Experience writing subsystem specifications based on system level requirements

  • Experience conducting verification testing

  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills

  • Experience working with subcontractors and US Government customers

  • Experience developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans

  • Willingness to travel
