Job Description:
GDIT is looking for a Data Scientist to lead a team providing data analytics and predictive analytics support for USSTRATCOM J6. This includes both Data Analytic Environment (DAE) and Data Analytic Services (DAS). Both are associated with data management, data-centricity, data infrastructure, and analytic development to enable USSTRATCOM to become a data-centric organization.
The Data Analytics and Predictive Analytics team will deliver, operate, and maintain the end-to-end DAE infrastructure as well as provide a data catalog consisting of discovering, cataloging, accessing, managing, and governing geographically dispersed data (structured and unstructured), sources, metadata tags, and data analysis functions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide services for the development and execution of strategic USSTRATCOM J6 data initiatives focusing on data engineering, data science, data analytics and Artificial Intelligence /Machine Learning (AI/ML)
Ensure SCITLS services aligned with the USSTRATCOM’s AI Strategy and AI Governance models (currently under development)
Provide services for advanced analytics, AI/ML model development, data governance, and implementation of innovative technologies and collaborate with USSTRATCOM stakeholders and DoD data community to deliver data-driven tools and platforms for decision-making
Coordinate with USSTRATCOM Chief Data Officer (CDO) and Knowledge Management Officer (KMO) and participate across the Command’s Boards, Bureaus, Centers, Cells, and Working Groups (B2C2WG) to interpret business, operational needs, and recommend use cases for data to align with informative decision making
Ensure all SCITLS data efforts align with the proposed USSTRATCOM Data Strategy (currently under development)
Examine feasibility of a technical approach for creating a single pain of glass for data sources
Examine capabilities for data cleansing
Identify, provide access to, and provide subject matter expertise to enable the integration and/or ingest of authoritative structured and/or unstructured data sets
Appy non-traditional approaches to the management of unstructured data sets
Provide data science-based solutions to customers’ structured and/or unstructured data set requirements
Perform associated role within the data stewardship/data custodian roles
Ensure data is being tagged, cataloged, and integrated into the appropriate data repository
Deliver, operate, and maintain USSTRATCOM data catalog
Develop data pipelines to clean and ingest data into the DAE (developing, configuring automated ingest of data from authoritative sources, ensuring access to authoritative sources, and cleanup and/or tagging of data)
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Required Skills:
Experience working with data analytics teams in a C4 networking environment
Experience providing technical information to senior military and/or Government officials
Experience evaluating, designing, and implementing enterprise communication technologies across geographically dispersed networks
Required Education :
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 5 years of experience with data analytics and predictive analytics or a Master’s degree in computer science (or a related field) with 2 years of related experience
Required Clearance:
- Active TS with SCI eligibility
Desired Skills:
Demonstrated understanding of the DoD's Data Strategy and data mesh/fabric architectures
Demonstrated experience with USSTRATCOM networks
Experience with AI/ML and algorithm analysis
Experience in platforms/languages like Maven/Palantir, Python, R, Hadoop, SQL and Linux
Experience with Databricks
Understanding of methods such as Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM), data visualization tools, and data governance frameworks
Desired Certifications:
Cloud Certification (AWS/Azure preferred)
ITIL Foundation Certification

The likely salary range for this position is $91,034 - $123,164. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
