Our Parsons Pasadena office is seeking to hire an experienced Senior Civil Design Engineer – Water and Wastewater Infrastructure to join our Los Angeles team and work on water and wastewater infrastructure projects . The primary emphasis of this role will be on design projects working as a civil design discipline engineer. The civil design engineer will collaborate with a talented team performing civil engineering design work in various infrastructure engineering fields, such as pipelines, pump stations, and wastewater treatment plants and preparing deliverables, including studies, drawings, and specifications on conventional design and design/build projects.
Work schedule: Full-time hybrid with 2 to 3 days a week at offices in Pasadena, CA.
Responsibilities
Performing civil design on projects, including design of site infrastructures, excavation and backfill, grading, drainage, erosion and sediment controls, paving, underground pipelines and utilities, and stormwater pollution prevention plans, using 3D software.
Producing construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
Performing engineering computations for grading, underground pipelines, site infrastructure, stormwater roundoffs, pavement and drainage, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
Preparing engineering drawings ,.
Completing a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. Frequently interfacing with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
Reviewing supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.
Preparing specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
Providing technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
Providing the seal and signature of the professional engineer when required by statute or contract.
Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
EIT Certified OR P.E Licensed Civil Engineer Preferred.
Minimum 5+ years of applicable experience in site layout, grading, drainage, and underground pipeline and utility design for waste and wastewater infrastructure projects.
Strong experience in civil engineering infrastructure or land development design for site work, such as grading, paving, drainage, and utilities, including drawings and specifications on public works projects as deliverables for construction of pipelines, pumping stations, and wastewater treatment plants. The drawings may include site section layouts, plans, details, sections, and pipeline and road profiles.
Experience in preparing selected civil engineering specifications, including sitework, earthwork, pavement, and pipeline utilities.
Experience in designing water and/or wastewater treatment facilities, wastewater collection systems, water transmission/distribution, pipeline rehabilitation, and pump stations is highly preferred.
Experience in preparing CAD drawings in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation are mandatory. Working knowledge of REVID is desirable.
Working knowledge and experience in hydraulics (drainage, open channel, and pressure flow) and preparation of calculations.
Working knowledge and experience in stormwater hydrology and preparation of calculations.
Ability of preparing pipeline calculations such as steel, ductile iron, HDPE, PVC, and concrete pipes per AWWA manuals of practice.
Ability of preparing earthwork take-offs.
Knowledge in designing to applicable codes.
Knowing, understanding, and applying civil discipline’s design standards and practices
Proficient in the use of specialty software used by the Civil discipline without supervision
Strong in verbal and written technical communications
Understanding survey files, with the ability to understand/generate Digital Terrain Models (DTM).
Experienced in developing scaled civil site plans (grading, paving, drainage, and underground pipelines) from various media (hand sketches, PDFs, CAD drawings).
Ability to establish alignments to generate plan and profile drawings of underground pipelines (both site and linear infrastructure projects).
Ability to calculate earthwork quantities/generate reports, with an understanding of slope grades.
Ability to produce engineering documents and related material with minimal direction and supervision.
Experienced in coordination of modeling and drawing production activities between all disciplines at the project level.
Experienced in performing quality checking of deliverables conforming to company quality control procedures, including project specific CAD/BIM requirements.

Salary Range:
$83,300.00 - $168,700.00
