Overview

SRI International, in Princeton, NJ, has an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer/Applied Physics Researcher within the Advanced Technology and Systems Division, to support a variety of activities from cyber-physical systems to quantum sensing.

The researcher will be part of a team of applied physicists and engineers, working on R&D projects to realize proof-of-concept demonstrations for government and commercial customers. A motivated and driven researcher will have opportunities to work across the full span of design, implementation, and testing of advanced prototype systems based on quantum sensor technology.

They should contribute at the individual level with guidance from more senior group members.

ATSD performs research and development across a wide range of disciplines from novel materials development to mixed signal integrated circuits, spanning design to implementation of advanced optical, quantum, radar, and imaging systems, transitioning technology from basic R&D to fieldable prototypes. We conduct this R&D for a wide variety of US government clients with applications ranging from basic scientific exploration to national security.

Responsibilities
    Data collection and analysis
  • Algorithm development and implementation
  • System design, integration, and testing
  • Field testing and measurement
  • Limited travel may be required to support field testing
Qualifications
  • BS with 1+ years experience or MS in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics or other similar disciplines
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain/transfer a DOD Security Clearance is required

Skills and experience may include one or more of the following:

  • Competence in a lab with test/measurement equipment
  • Programming for analysis, simulation, and instrumentation (MATLAB, C/C++, Python, COMSOL)
  • Multi-sensor integration and control; digital and analog signal processing and filtering
  • Embedded systems (microcontrollers, FPGA)
  • Technical knowledge of electrical engineering principles (electronics, circuits, and electromagnetics)
  • Physical and mechanical intuition

The salary range is: $77,220-$102,312. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
